Fillers are made of hyaluronic acid (gel-like substance) in which, when injected into the dermal layer of the skin will fill up furrows or wrinkles. Depending on the type of fillers, facial augmentation such as cheek, nose, chin and lip augmentation is also possible. Fillers that I prefer to use in my clinic is Juvaderm brand from Allergen (manufacturer of Botox) which provides a more long lasting effect on patients. The most popular demand on fillers would be for deep smile lines due to volume loss at the affected area. The filling and lifting effects on the line are quite dramatic and instantaneous. Like Botox, the corrective effects of Juvaderm is temporary and the duration is dependent on the type of Juvaderm fillers used, either Juvaderm Ultra, Ultra Plus or Voluma which all have different usage depending on the area treated and severity of wrinkles. You can expect the the fillers lasting from 1 year to 1 year and half before retouch are required.
